Limlmtx for participating in Sx̌ʷnítkʷ - Paddle to the Kettle Falls Salmon Ceremony

We are thrilled to have you join our team for the upcoming Canoe Journey. Whether you have been volunteering your time for years or are brand new to the volunteering world, we are grateful for your help and excited to have you on board. This event is a huge undertaking, and we couldn't do it without dedicated volunteers like you.

We are here to give you all the information you need to know before heading out to the first campsite. From what to bring to what to expect, we've got you covered. SKODEN! (Let’s go then)

Expectations

As a volunteer, your responsibilities may include setting up tents, helping with food preparation, moving vehicles, transporting waste and assisting with paddling equipment. It's essential to have a positive attitude and a willingness to lend a hand where needed. Your enthusiasm can make all the difference in creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all the participants.

What to Bring

Due to nature's unpredictability, it's important to ensure you're prepared for all weather conditions. Some suggestions for what to pack are a warm sleeping bag, a tent, rain gear, and comfortable clothing and shoes that can get wet. It's also beneficial to bring sunscreen, a hat, and insect repellent.

Safety Precautions

Safety is a top priority for all participants, and volunteers. Before heading out, make sure to receive clear instructions from the event organizers about safety protocols and steps to take in case of an emergency. All children are required to be accompanied by an adult, no children can be left with camp crew during paddle due to safety concerns around the water. Please keep a close eye on your children especially near water.

Communication

Communication is key for successful teamwork. Organizers will provide a communication plan, so make sure to familiarize yourself with it. Be ready to take part in team meetings and share information with the organizers and other volunteers. Keep a positive attitude, be patient, listen attentively, and encourage others to do the same.

What to Expect

Camping and canoe paddling bring you closer to nature and can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Be prepared to engage in physical activities, work hard, make new friends, and have fun. Many people who volunteer for camps and paddling events find the experience to be life-changing, and you might too!

Volunteering for Sx̌ʷnítkʷ Paddle to Kettle Falls Salmon Ceremony can be an unforgettable experience. Before taking off to the campsite, set your expectations, pack wisely, prioritize safety, communicate with your team, and get ready to have the time of your life. We appreciate your support and hard work, and we look forward to working with you to make this event the best it can be. Thank you for joining our team!
